The ankle wasn’t sprained after all, but my pride was still throbbing. The next morning, I’d already brewed coffee, downed a giant mug, and set a second, steaming mug by Teagan’s head. Then I wandered around the apartment with a bit more thumping than was necessary—but she didn’t budge. Listening to her talk was slightly better than the snoring.
